HOW TO DELIVER A PROJECT

A Project Manager is always pushed to deliver projects on time. So, time is the decisive factor for a successful project. Here I would elaborate some steps which can be helpful in delivering a project within the framework.

Four Steps to deliver Your Projects

On a project, it is easy to get damp with the details and forget about the "Birds eye view". You need to take these four steps.

Step 1: Goal Orientation

Take a Start by setting objectives for your project, Document of the end goal; specify the scope and objective of the Project charter. For example an architectural drawing for constructing a building puts in the picture the end result-how it is going to look like. Therefore, the project manager knows what and by when has to be delivered and the client knows what they will get. It helps the manager to direct his team towards the end goal and keeps everyone on the same side.

Step 2: sketch the Roadmap

As the Goal Orientation defined, the second step is to create a plan for your project for the path ahead. Note down all the stages, actions and responsibilities for the entire project. Ensure the right allocation of duties and tasks for every one in the every step. A concrete Plan is important in this step, without having a concrete plan chaotic environment may be usual for your project.

Step 3: Cope the time

After communicating your plan, you have to make sure that everyone is working on the planned tasks related to the end goal. Avoid going off the track on your project because you have lots to do but time is limited. Time management in this step is much important to complete the assigned tasks.

Step 4: Keep a “Birds Eye View”.

To accurately monitor and report on the project you need to keep a “Birds eye view" for a crystal clear picture of the project delivery within the time frame work. Use software which helps in keeping “Birds eye view" which tells you whether you are within your framework or not, are you on time and under budget? Your schedule is important in this step, which tells you whether your tasks are under / on / over schedule. This can help you in controlling the status and keeping your project on track.
After taking all of the above described steps if your project is slipping then what?
Well you need to investigate the causes why you encountered complexities and why that were not identified when you took start, then you may need to redefine the scope of your project, Hire and allocate additional resources to help out, or agree with the Client for a new delivery date to resolve the project challenge.

How to Communicate Effectively with Top Management

Much has been written about how to communicate effectively across the organization, but my idea through this article is how to communicate effectively with the top managers, CEOs and Directors of the company. Many people do have good skills of speaking and writing, but word “communication” tells the different story. My definition of communication is “the art of convincing people in minimum words”. Means that if you speak a lot or write a lot, it might not work when it comes to communicating with the top management.
